Egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, is a process where a person’s eggs are carefully retrieved, frozen, and stored for future use. This allows individuals to preserve their fertility so they can try for a pregnancy later in life.

It is commonly chosen by people who wish to delay parenthood for personal, professional, or educational reasons, or by those facing medical treatments, such as chemotherapy, that could impact their fertility. The procedure gives patients more reproductive options and flexibility, offering peace of mind knowing that their eggs are preserved at their current quality.

Frozen eggs remain viable indefinitely, as freezing effectively pauses your biological clock. For more information click here.

Most steps of in vitro fertilization (IVF) are minimally invasive. Medications, monitoring, and sedation during procedures help ensure your comfort. A typical cycle takes about 4–6 weeks or longer, including ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization, and embryo transfer. IVF is a safe treatment and your doctor will discuss this in detail.

Maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress, avoiding smoking or excessive alcohol, and following your doctor’s guidance can support outcomes.

In most cases, you can continue with your usual work and daily activities while undergoing fertility treatment. Many patients maintain their regular routines, including light exercise and social commitments. However, your doctor may recommend limiting strenuous physical activity, heavy lifting, or high-impact exercise around critical points in your cycle, such as egg retrieval and embryo transfer, to reduce the risk of complications.

Travel may also be restricted during certain stages to ensure timely monitoring and treatment. Always follow the guidance of your fertility team, as they tailor recommendations based on your specific health, treatment plan, and overall comfort.
