Ontario Fertility
Program

The Ontario Fertility Program (OFP), launched in 2015, aims to reduce the financial barrier for families through public funding for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), and Fertility Preservation*. The heart of the program delivers equitable access to fertility treatment for Ontarians.

The Ontario government is investing $250 million over three years to increase the number of clinics participating in the OFP.

At IVF Canada, there is no waiting list for the funded Ontario Fertility Program. Once your required assessments are complete, you can begin treatment right away.

Both of our locations (Markham & Toronto) offer equal access to the funded program under the same conditions, and you can choose whichever location is most convenient for your bloodwork and ultrasound appointments.

This flexible, coordinated approach ensures you receive seamless care without delays.

The Ontario Fertility Program (OFP) does not cover medication costs. However, starting in 2025, you can claim the new Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit (OFTTC), which refunds 25% of eligible expenses (medication, IVF treatment) up to $5,000 annually, helping offset these costs. Click here for more information.

If you require additional cycles or procedures that fall outside the limits of the Ontario Fertility Program, you have the option to pursue them privately through your clinic.

Your fertility team will help you understand the costs, timelines, and potential success rates of these additional treatments.

Ontario Fertility Program update: IVF Funding

The province is also implementing the new Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit, retroactive to January 1, 2025. The credit will provide up to $5,000 in annual support by covering 25 per cent of eligible fertility-related expenses, including IVF cycles, fertility medications, travel for treatment and diagnostic testing at IVF Canada, the top fertility clinic in Ontario.

As our government continues to protect Ontario families and the services they rely on, this historic announcement will triple the number of families benefitting from government-funded IVF services,

said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “More people and families across the province will be able to access government-funded fertility services faster, more conveniently and with more financial support.”
