Induction of ovulation
This is a general term that is used to describe a number of interventions that all lead to pushing the ovaries to produce eggs. Reasons for that might include helping nature in someone who is known to ovulate, may be with the purpose of producing more than one egg each month (as in IUI), or may be in women who do not ovulate (Anovulatory cycles, PCO patients). Induction of ovulation, with the aim of producing ‘many’ eggs is done in IVF cycles. Please read “Shots to release eggs” under Medication.
